Presentations -
Workshops.
Public awareness training.
Preservation of library and archival
materials is not only the responsability of institutions and their
staff. It is also the responsibility of the public who uses books,
prints or archival material for different purposes. Therefore
it is very important to educate people how to handle, transport
and use these items and to make them aware of their responsibility
in the survival of the collections.
Public awareness meetings and trainings
can be organised by libraries and archives to heighten the involvement
of their lenders and users with the preservation issue.
Schools are also very well situated
to make young people conscious of the impact their intervention
has on the survival of our cultural heritage.
