Training for preservation
projects.
Since preservation is one of the main
concerns of archives and libraries, preservation
projects will constantly be part of preservation management.
Preservation projects can be initiated as individual projects or
can be part of a global preservation effort. Often preservation
projects are initiated after being advised as part of a Global
Survey or a Collection Screening.
Preservation activities can of course
be outsourced to private enterprises, but there are some good arguments
in keeping certain preservation activities indoors. Some of these
arguments are
- Safer for the objects involved because
there is
- no need for transportation
- no handling by external people
- less risk of damage and theft
- It is an investment in the knowledge and
motivation of own personnel because acquired knowledge can be
used in other situations
- More control and possibility of assessment
of the project on site
- Being cheaper once the necessary workstations
are available
We can offer you training for preservation
projects in situ. The training is cut to size to your preservation
project. We can initiate the project, train the personnel involved,
supervise the activities and act as problemsolver.
