Conservation and restoration assessment.

Before initiating conservation and restoration work an assessment of the physical condition of the object and a conservation proposal are necessary. This can be done by the different workshops who will enter a price-offer. However, to be able to compare and evaluate different offers, a preliminary assessment can be done and consecutive conservation and restoration guidelines and directions can be given. These directions can be general or specific for each separate item:

  • The guidelines and directions should reflect
  • The policy of the institution on conservation
  • The needs and character of the objects involved
  • The principles of conservation and restoration as found in the Code of Ethics

Conservation and restoration work assessment can be done by us for classic library and archive materials. The assessment can as well be done for a collection as for a single item.
